The students that I teach are a diverse group of creative artists from all walks of life. In our southern California coastal community my students have access to the beautiful landscape of our destination city, as well as an historically rich culture of outdoor sports, fine art, and music.
My students are special because they have committed to studying the Arts, specifically Music.
Every day they enter my classroom with enthusiastic smiles eagerly awaiting to hear the lesson for the day. We have many options at our school for students to find their voice including, bands, orchestra, guitar ensembles, choirs, and modern music classes that guide students through music history as they learn to play instruments and sing commercial music.
Our school is populated to capacity and every child has the opportunity to work with some of the best educators in the field. Our school boasts many distinctions of excellence including the Gold Ribbon School, California Distinguished School, and National Blue Ribbon School Award. In concert with our staff, students and parent community, our middle school has become an example of innovative educational techniques to facilitate and nurture the success of our 21st century learners.
My Project
Our Music Department needs new musicians chairs for our classroom. Historically our musicians have been sitting in standard plastic classroom chairs that are aged, missing feet, and do not promote proper posture for instrumental musicians during rehearsal.
A musician needs to sit properly in order to engage the diaphragm muscles for breathing to produce a good tone and these chairs will help us meet that educational goal.
Our ensembles perform competitively and as entertainment for local civic and private events . We need to present ourselves professionally in these various venues and these chairs will assist us in our professional development.
