My Students

The children in my classroom come from all walks of life. Their families not only come from various places in the United States but also have immigrated from around the globe, including the Philippines, Mexico, and the Middle East. They reside in a lower socioeconomic area and most don't have access to the necessary school supplies and technology that is needed to successfully learn from home. During the current coronavirus pandemic, our classroom has an established routine with a daily agenda. This includes daily math videos that I create and present through Zoom meetings when we're all together. These videos contain an interactive component when the students illustrate a model of various math problems. I am finding that some students don't even have paper on which to draw. I would like to offer them the needed supplies to help make this unprecedented time easier for them and their families. They are amazing children, and eager to continue learning all that I can bring into their lives at this time.

My Project

I have 30 amazing learners who are stuck at home during this coronavirus pandemic. They are so eager to continue their learning from home, but they lack the essentials needed to successfully transition to distance learning. Please help me provide them with individual white boards, as well as white board markers and erasers, so they may continue demonstrating their understanding of the daily math lessons. My students also need pattern blocks, as these manipulatives are necessary for them to better understand the concepts presented by the third grade measurement and geometry standards. Students need hands-on materials when it comes to grasping fractions and geometric concepts. Without these supplies, my students are at a great disadvantage with continuing their learning.
