Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The items I’m requesting—pom poms, hair bows, and turtleneck shirts for under uniforms—will help foster a stronger sense of school pride and community among my students. By having coordinated accessories, students involved in cheerleading and spirit activities can visually represent our school, giving them a boost in confidence and allowing them to stand out as leaders of school spirit. The pom poms will add excitement to our cheer routines, and the hair bows and turtlenecks will provide a cohesive, polished look that makes them feel part of a team.
My primary goal for this project is to create a supportive environment where students feel empowered to express themselves, take pride in their school, and lead by example.
These items help students not only perform in cheerleading routines but also encourage a positive atmosphere that can resonate with the entire school community. This experience is especially valuable because these students may not have access to typical cheer gear on their own.
What makes my students special is their resilience, enthusiasm, and ability to lift one another up despite challenges they may face outside of school. These students in the South Bronx are passionate about bringing energy and pride to their school community.
