My Students
One of Mr. Rogers' famous words are " I like you just the way you are!" Every child is unique! Even though we look different from the outside, we are all the same inside.
Students should celebrate their differences and individuality.
There are hundreds of nationalities in the world today. My classroom is like the United Nations, but my students need to learn the English language since they are now in the United States. They want to be proficient in this language while wanting to flourish academically and personally in their new home country. With your help, they can achieve their goals.
In order to do that, they need to accept who they are and others too! They need to know that it is okay to be different. This is what makes them special for there is no other person in the world like them. Each of them is originally copies of themselves. These diversity books will help my students see that.
When students are honest with themselves on who they really are, then they can focus on their goals.
My Project
We are requesting multicultural stories and books for the opportunity to read books that just look like them! Reading books that look like them will broaden their horizons. They will know if that person can do it then they can too! It will give them the ambition they need because they will realize that their dreams will be within their reach.
Students learn about diversity, kindness, and anti-bullying through these books.
It is comforting to know that students can be kind and befriend others who are different from themselves. When students have a supporting and safe environment, they will do so much better academically and personally. The reason is school will now be their main focus instead of impressing their classmates of what they should be to them. Please help my students embrace who they are. Once that is accomplished, they can start reaching for the stars!
