This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a very diverse group. They come from different backgrounds and beliefs. Some kids have access to technology and some don't have it at home. With the rise in the knowledge of technology for current jobs, all students need to know how to be tech savvy. Our school has a diverse population with 95% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Many face challenges in and out of school and in their homes. School is a place of refuge for some, and I want to provide ample opportunities for them to shine where they are in their development. As their teacher, I see a group of wonderful children full of energy and a willingness to jump in and try new things.

With Arizona being 49th in state funding, it is very difficult to give all students what they need.

In order for our students to compete in the job market, they must be exposed to and be able to solve problems.

My Project

Despite the amazing changes in our world through technology, one classroom staple will never go away...BOOKS! Children still need to see pictures and read through books to learn about the world and its history.

These biographies will introduce the students to many amazing people and the wonderful contributions they have made to our society.

Exposing kids to people from all walks of life, making many special contributions, is the key to a more unified society. They will learn that all people have something special to share, no matter their culture, upbringing, or origin story.

The books in this collection will open the eyes of my students into potential, their potential! Make your contribution to the next Frida or Armstrong and let's allow them to see their futures!
