Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Title I school in Southern California. Our school is a very small school located in East Los Angeles. Many of my students live in government funded housing. They are English language learners and have inquiring minds! Our school is located with a Medical Magnet School which is offering all students medical and science opportunities.
My students are enthusiastic about learning and are excited to be back in the classroom.
Distance learning brought many challenges for us. The families have been really cooperative and supportive, willing to learn new things.
Returning to school will be a first time experience for many little ones. I want them to feel welcome the minute they enter our classroom with engaging resources that can help them learn to read.
My Project
My students come to my class for intervention in phonological awareness. Many of my students are experiencing their first time in school. These whiteboards will be provide students them with a quick opportunity to write letters, words, and phrases to help make them successful learners.
Having these whiteboards with lines and dry erase markers will allow students to practice their penmanship in a stress free and low anxiety manner.
Many times students have difficulty forming their letters because the paper does not have the broken line to guide them forming short and tall letters. These whiteboards will be great tools to use.
