My Project

This year I am teaching art to 9th-12th graders. I have 30 students in my advanced drawing class and 60 students in my art fundamentals classes. My students are so eager to learn and create but they do not have the means to create because we are lacking supplies in the art room.

This project will allow me to supply all students with basic drawing pencils, sharpies, folders and erasers; these are the basic tools they need to have a successful year in art class!

My classes give students the opportunity to create and express their inner voices. Right now we are learning about surrealism, Students are creating a drawing that has surrealist ideals and themes that relate to themselves. The students have a lot going on, personally, physically and emotionally. They desire to find ways to self-express and the arts give them the outlet to do so.

I strive every day to inspire them and keep their passion for the arts alive!

I have been able to motivate most of my students and get them to share their inner thoughts, feelings and ideas. It is difficult and frustrating for these artists to constantly share what they are feeling in writing or verbally.

Asking them to share written or verbally is not always the right way for students to get their ideas noticed. Creating and making is a special component that allows students to express their inner voice when words are not available. I feel that my students are really missing out on connecting with their art and being able to share their ideas with the world. Please help me fund this project, so I can give them the tools they need to be successful!
