Help me give my students basic everyday supplies, such as beginner pencils, glue sticks and Plat-Doh, and wipes to keep our tables and chairs germ-free.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are always eager and ready to learn! They are a busy little group of kind, fun-loving, respectful five-year-olds. Each is different; each is unique.
Many speak another language as their primary language.
We are a very diverse group, allowing for the sharing and acceptance of different cultures. Most come from loving homes, but not all have access to quality educational materials. School is special and important to them for this reason. Many of my students have parents who did not receive a full K-12 education, but their parents are very active and involved in their education, as they understand the opportunities that an education can provide.
My Project
My students use beginner pencils to improve their fine motor skills. A student can go through about 5 of these pencils a year, and we are on the last of our current supply.
We also use Play-Doh and glue sticks daily to work on fine and gross motor skills.
We use Play-Doh to build letters and sight words, numbers, sets for quantity comparisons and in free play. We use glue sticks for and paste activities and when making crafts.
Lastly, we wipe our tables, chairs and supply boxes down daily to keep germs away. With 24 students in the class, we use one pack of wipes within a week.
