Pencils, Pens, Erasers and Folders - Good Yearly Start

My students need lots of extra pencils, erasers and pens. They also need their own folders for their work. Pencil sharpeners usually last one year.

My Students

Our school is a K-8 low poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our students come from families who are very low on funds and most come to school with little or no supplies. It is a constant struggle to make sure our students have what they need for class. They constantly have to have pencils, erasers, glue sticks, paper, notebooks, etc. The students who are fortunate enough to have their own supplies do share but that runs out really fast.

My Project

Some students bring their own supplies to school, but unfortunately they run out of pencils, pens and erasers very early in the year if they have them at all. Some are willing to share and we have very few who ever bring extra.

The Reading Intervention program allows all students that bit of extra practice all students need.

The folders will be used in this program and will be color coded by class so that they are easy to keep organized and students know exactly where they belong. The pencil sharpener usually has to be replaced yearly. They definitely do not last very long and we can't write with unsharpened pencils.
