My students need cardstock, laminating paper, and ink so that we can make our own centers. I individualize my centers to fit state standards as well as to differentiate.
My students come to me with little to no letter knowledge, and they are reading independently by the end of the school year. This is a difficult task, but that's the joy of kindergarten! Students need to develop a love of learning and that's nearly impossible without proper supplies.
I teach in an urban setting.
My class is typically approximately 20 students. These students usually come to kindergarten already having a negative attitude about school. This is in part due to things they hear from people around them that have had mostly negative school experiences. I'm passionate about changing their outlook and giving them the positive experiences they need to WANT to be lifelong learners.
My Project
Many of these materials such as, cardstock, laminating paper, and ink will be used to simply help us get through every lesson, everyday. These materials are necessary for student learning, but we are missing them!
Some of the materials will be used to create math and literacy centers. I create my own math and literacy centers to ensure that I am completely teaching to the standards. This is also important so that I can differentiate my activities to fit the needs of all learners.
These supplies will allow us to start the year with everything we need to allow us to have a worry-free work environment.
The students will feel more confident in their learning and in themselves knowing they have all the tools they need to be successful.
