This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What is one way to motivate students who are reluctant writers or have a difficult time learning their multiplication facts? Praise their accomplishments and provide them with a motivational pencil.

I teach 25 third graders who like to be acknowledged and rewarded for their accomplishments.

They live in a high poverty neighborhood and often lack many resources at school and in their community. State and local budget cuts have made it difficult to buy necessary writing tools such as pencils.

My Project

The lead and scented pencils that are being requested will motivate my students to learn their multiplication facts, to write, and set individual goals. I will give out pencils to reward and motivate students to do better. The pencils will be given when a student meets one of his or her goals. The colored pencils will be used to create artwork. My students will be able to use their creativity and create pieces of art.

With your help my students will have valuable resources that will make a lasting impact in their lives.
