Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These supplies will benefit about 170 students in my 9th grade English classes and theater elective classes. Many of these items are classroom necessities like pencils, markers and special paper for group projects, and cleaning wipes. I've also included snacks and board games.

My classroom is where many 9th graders go to learn English, but it is also a community space where students experiment with new forms of expression and grow as people.

Last year, students and I collaborated to form a drama club that this year is growing into a class. Students spent countless hours in my class room, often staying after the final bell, to create and develop this community. Students were fuel by snacks, many of which I payed for myself. Snacks and games allow me to continue to build a safe space where all students are welcome.

I have incredibly talented and independent students, who unfortunately don't always receive the resources they need from our school district. Between staffing shortages and budget cuts, getting a little extra from donors like you goes a long way toward a successful school year.
