Why are we still fighting with regular wood barrel pencils which break and constantly need sharpening?
My third graders will be coming into my classroom ready to write, draw, and problem solve.
They have had a great foundation for learning and will be ready to take their learning to the next level. They, however, will be plagued with the same issues which children and teachers have been enduring for decades...the plague of the wooden pencil.
My Project
Ticonderoga mechanical pencils will allow my students to write continuously without being interrupted with the need to sharpen a pencil. The refill packs, of course, will allow for the continuous writing to continue throughout the school year. Imagine students' thoughts not being disrupted by the need to sharpen a pencil. I know it's hard to imagine because we've all fought this issue in our lives as students and workers.
Although our classroom writes with Chromebooks throughout the day, there will always be reasons to have pencils.
Physical writing is a skill and process, along with handwriting, which will be a skill we teach. Third grade is a very important year to learn the art of cursive writing! Please help this physical action to be easier and more enjoyable for the teacher, me, and my students. Let's bring pencils into the technology of this century! Please support this project.
