Help me give my students individual pencil pouches with all the supplies they need for biology class. We often create models, so every student needs pens and colored pencils, as well as paper to draw on!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In Biology class, we are constantly drawing and making models, especially of the things we can't see with our own eyes, like cells (see class picture for an example). Currently, I have one class set of colored pencils, pens, highlighters, and glue sticks. However, it's not actually a big enough class set for my biggest class. Plus, there is some time wasted every day as the students pick up and put away the supplies.
My students deserve nice, new supplies that will last them for the entire Biology class.
I want to provide every student with a personal pencil pouch filled with all the materials they need for biology. This will speed up transition time since students will already have all their supplies, and it will help teach students responsibility as they will be in charge of their own pencil pouch. This responsibility is especially good for my English language learners who may not have had the opportunity to be in charge of their own supplies, and my students with disabilities who need support with learning organizational skills.
In addition to the pencil pouches, we need copy paper for student models and notes, some students need dividers for their binders, and we need more class sets of dry erase sheets so that students can leave comments on various class models.
