My Students
My students might appear to come from all different walks and talks of life, but there is one thing they certainly have in common, and that is Tiger Pride! No matter the task put in front of them, they are always willing to rise to the challenge with enthusiasm and perseverance. As we have learned to adjust to the “new normal” this school year, they have been able to quickly pivot and continually adapt to the ever changing circumstances of the year.
My Project
Coming back to school during the pandemic this fall, we have some students return to in-person classes, while many students are attending school virtually. While in-person and virtual experience both offer benefits to students, there is an invisible divide between students in these different environments. Having an iPad and Apple Pencil will be a multifunctional tool to facilitate student engagement and learning for this school year and beyond. Students will be able to use the materials to create novel content: posters, infographics, presentations, interactive models - you name it, they create it. Additionally, in-person students will be able to provide more detailed feedback to their peers by digitally annotating documents, rather than responding with another text document. Students will also be able to use interactive apps, like Google Expeditions, to interact with and learn from Augmented Reality (AR) models. In our classroom, the iPad will be an irreplaceable tool unleashing student creativity to take charge of their learning as our environment continues to shift.
Bridging the gap between virtual and on-site student collaboration is the goal of this project. With the use of an iPad students will be able to seamlessly share work with their peers virtually.
This will allow students the opportunity to learn new content while harnessing valuable communication skills that are more important now than ever. With the “new normal” of blended learning environment the stage for building classroom community has changed. With the benefits provided by an iPad students will be able to work more personally with each other to build stronger relationships with each other and their learning.
