This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am committed to allowing as many students who want to take Computer Science to be in the class. In order to accommodate all students in the school, I offer both an AP and Introductory level class.

To make things more challenging, this year our school moved to a block schedule with A and B days.

The AP students meet both A and B days; the Intro, only B. This means that the AP students serve as peer tutors for the Intro students, who only see half of the material.

My Project

In the first weeks of school, my students determined a solution to this problem: video! My AP students film themselves and then use the recordings to facilitate the conversations with their younger, less experienced peers. The videos allow the Intro students unique insight to what happens when they're not in class.

This digital video camera will allow my AP students to make high-quality recordings - with sufficient sound quality - to share with their peers.

This will create a unique culture of peer leadership in our class.
