My Project
As we continually work to empower our students and build their skills, we seek to try a new iteration of our Peer Mediation program where students are trained to lead conflict resolution at our school. Peer mediation programs developed in schools have demonstrated positive outcomes. Because we already use restorative approaches at our school and because students and staff are already familiar with the language and culture of mediating, we believe that our student leaders (peer mediators) add to our restorative process. The Keep the Peace and Spread Kindness project is for our Peer Mediators to spread kindness and bring awareness to their role as peer leaders creating safe spaces for their peers. Providing affirmation wristbands will help our students focus on spreading kindness and peace throughout our school by positively affirming themselves and seeing the best in others.
