This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project seeks funding to introduce stationary bikes into our elementary library, transforming it into a dynamic learning environment. We believe that learning is not a passive activity; it thrives on engagement and interaction. By integrating physical movement with literacy, we aim to make words come to life for our students. Imagine students not just reading about adventures, but also pedaling through imagined landscapes, bringing a kinesthetic dimension to their reading experience. This innovative approach will create a more immersive and memorable learning experience, fostering a deeper connection with the material.
By providing stationary bikes in the library, we offer students a unique opportunity to engage their bodies while engaging their minds.
Incorporating movement into the school day significantly improves children's reading retention and reading fluency. The physical act of pedaling stimulates blood flow to the brain, enhancing focus, attention, and memory—all crucial components of successful reading comprehension. This initiative directly addresses the need for increased physical activity within the school day while simultaneously supporting literacy development.
