This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My sixth graders are enthusiastic and resilient problem solvers that come to school each day with smiles on their faces, despite the challenges they face at home. My school is located close to the Mexico border and serves a high poverty population, many of them being English learners. The school provides free breakfast and lunch for all the students. They share my enthusiasm for discovery and especially, for science and math.

In our classroom, we value a strong sense of community, collaboration and appreciation for each other.

I make sure to provide learning opportunities that will help them become well rounded citizens of the world. They work hard to be active participants in our classroom.

My Project

I try to offering flexible seating options in my classroom. This under the desk pedal exerciser would be another option for my students. Students who fidget or need movement would have the option of pedaling while working at a desk. They can focus on the task at hand while still being able to move their body. It would also be a way for students to track the miles pedaled as a class and to use that data for math lessons. Students could analyze real life data which would make it more engaging for them. I think the under the desk pedal organizer would be a wonderful addition to my classroom.
