This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are talented musicians, eager learners, and driven to play and perform their best. They understand that hard work leads to success, but it seems that success comes easier to students at some other schools.

The only difference between my students and students at other successful schools is the resources and support they receive.

My students are enthusiastic and determined, and they spend their weeks selling candy, working booths, and catering food at their own concerts just to raise the money for their daily musical needs. With more support and resources, my students can channel their efforts into growing musically and developing as performers.

My Project

I work with incredible, hard-working, talented students in my band and piano classes. My band students play 3-4 hours every day between the jazz band, concert band, and marching band rehearsals. My Honors piano students perform classic pieces written by Mozart, Chopin, and Beethoven.

My students' success depends on the availability of supplies for them.

In the band, my reed-playing students need a consistent supply of reeds to change out as their reeds get worn out. In my growing piano classes, my Honors students require pedals in order to accurately perform their music. With these supplies and equipment, I can better ensure access and opportunity for my students to grow musically!
