Peaceful Possibilities in Second Grade

Help me give my students a sense of calm, peace, and organization in their classroom.

My Project

In my incredible second grade gifted and talented class I am blessed to teach a wide variety of learners. So many of my students are twice executional and not only need support to enrich, stimulate and challenge them emotionally, but also help them manage sensory overload, executive functioning issues and big emotions.

Twice exceptional students who are on the Autism spectrum or have ADHD require special supports to thrive in a large class with many students and only one teacher.

Noise cancelling headphones would be a game changer for many of my students who struggle to focus during independent work and exams. Checklists would support my students who need extra focus on what needs to be done in order to successfully transition from one activity to the next. Fidgets and calm strips are a favorite way for the kids to self regulate and I believe the addition of a classroom pet would add a sense of peace, joy and responsibility for my learners.
