My Project

My students attend a suburban middle school. My students have (ASD) autism spectrum disorder. Our class and students meet in a self-contained classroom setting. The noises and movements throughout the school day can be challenging for them.

Creating a peaceful place in our classroom will help each student master their calming techniques.

We work on these techniques throughout the day and throughout the school year. The items I am requesting will allow me to work with each student on their calming techniques and emotional skills. Yoga mats will assist in offering students a place to engage in mindfulness while they regulate their bodies to calm down when the regular school day and bustling building become too much stimulation for them.

The addition of a rug, books, games, seating, sensory tools, and timers will benefit all of my students to learn and grow within their special needs.
