My Project

My kindergarten classroom is a place of joy and learning, but sometimes, big feelings can be overwhelming for my young learners. To help them navigate these emotions, I am creating a calming corner – a safe space where children can learn to regulate their feelings and develop critical social-emotional skills. This dedicated area will be a safe place for children who need a moment to de-stress, refocus, or take a quiet break. Your donation will help me equip this calming corner with essential tools for emotional well-being.

A vibrant Feelings Chart will help children identify and express their emotions, while timers will guide them in taking short breaks and practicing self-regulation techniques.

Calming strips will provide a tactile sensory experience, and breathing tools will help them learn calming breathing exercises. Inspiring posters will reinforce positive self-talk and mindfulness strategies. This calming corner will be more than just a quiet space; it will be a place where children learn valuable life skills, build resilience, and develop the emotional intelligence they need to thrive.

Finally, a collection of age-appropriate SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) books will offer stories and strategies for managing emotions. These stories will help me to create a space in our formal classroom instructions to talk about big feels and tools everyone can use to become a full learner. By supporting this project, you're investing in our students' social and emotional well-being, empowering them to become confident, compassionate, and emotionally intelligent individuals.
