This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our classroom, emotional growth is just as important as academic success.
Many of my students come to school carrying big feelings they don’t yet have the tools to manage.
That’s why I’m creating a self-regulation station—a safe, calming space where students can practice mindfulness, express their emotions, and reset when needed.
To bring this vision to life, I’m requesting a few key items:
Play-Doh and tempera paint cakes will give students sensory outlets to relieve stress and focus their minds through creative expression. These tools help calm the nervous system and build emotional resilience through hands-on play.
Visual timers will support students in developing self-awareness and self-management by giving them structure during calm-down moments. Knowing there’s a set time helps them feel secure and in control.
A book about staying calm will offer relatable stories and strategies that teach students how to handle big emotions with confidence and kindness.
Emotion-expressive toys will allow students to identify and express their feelings in a non-verbal way, encouraging empathy and emotional intelligence.
By creating a space with these resources, I’m giving my students the opportunity to build lifelong skills: how to pause, breathe, and make good choices—even when things feel overwhelming. With your help, we can turn moments of stress into moments of growth, and help every student thrive—emotionally and academically.
