Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A few years ago, I learned of the Peaceful Fruits company through an episode of Shark Tank. I was very impressed by their standards of environmental and social responsibility. Through the Peaceful Fruits Foundation, they tackle the growing crisis around youth mental health. They create and distribute educational tools that help even young kids build lifelong mental health skills. As part of their community focus, they employ people with developmental disabilities, who often struggle to find rewarding, full-wage jobs. These individuals have a hand in making all of their snacks.
I want my students to taste a selection of their delicious and healthy snacks.
Peaceful Fruits sources their acai berries directly from the Amazon Rainforest and promotes the economic empowerment of locals in the Amazon. As my students study Ecology in class and learn about the importance of biodiversity and sustainability, they will be able to taste the acai grown in the Amazon Rainforest.
