Peace Of Mind During Social Distancing

Help me give my students the tools to stay healthy and organized with chair pockets, dry-erase boards, and math counters. My students will be able to keep their own learning supplies in their chair pockets and practice independence.

My Students

Our Title I public school in Phoenix, Arizona serves a diverse group of students, with many different academics and social-emotional needs. Each year my classroom is full of kind, passionate, and extremely hardworking students who are eager to learn new things. When my students walk through the door every August they often come with some anxiety and a little fear. As they begin to make new friends and settle into our daily routine all of their anxiety and fear disappears.

As I begin to prepare for the upcoming school year, I know my students and families will be faced with an even greater fear Covid19.

In this new season of teaching amongst social distancing concerns, shared learning tools are no longer acceptable. In order to provide a safe, healthy, self-directed learning environment where students can learn to take ownership of their materials. It is important to provide them with a storage solution that allows them to access supplies independently, without sharing germs with their classmates.

My Project

In this new era of teaching with social distancing it is vital that we have

a plan in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students.

The chair pockets are a simple storage solution that will provide my students with the opportunity to store learning supplies like crayons, scissors, math books, pencils and books, and use them without putting their classmates at risk while fostering independence and responsibility. Chair pockets will allow my students to have their learning tools within reach while keeping them a safe distance from other students.

The use of the new dry-erase boards will be incorporated into our daily routine and will be used for writing, sight word practice, and mathematics. The math counters will magnetically attach to the dry-erase boards for counting, addition, and subtraction strategy practice. Each student will have their own dry-erase board and tools to practice their strategies without sharing supplies with other students.

By donating to our project, you will not only help minimize the risk of spreading illness, but you will be investing in the future of young scholars and support their pursuit of academic achievement. By supporting my young scholars you will ultimately provide students and families with peace of mind when entering the classroom.
