My Project
The students with whom I work are bright and resilient, yet they also demonstrate lagging executive functioning and self-regulation skills. They are assigned to our school due to excessive behavior outside the systemically defined norm of the traditional school setting.
The requested blankets and headphones will be used to enhance our designated safe space for learners who are overwhelmed by their 'big' emotions and/or external stimuli.
These two simple items will provide essential sensorial support that bring both comfort and control in order to recompose once trauma and behavioral reactions have been triggered. Further, the coloring materials provide a kinesthetic outlet to enhance social-emotional wellbeing.
