This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A convertible seating couch can be used as a tool to help improve both physical and developmental skills. It can help with strength, balance, coordination, attention, speech, communication, teamwork, visual and spatial perception, pretend play skills, and praxis skills (to name a few). It also allows students to take charge of their emotions while being able to decompress and implement their zones of regulations while being provided a sensory foam area with great configurations. Currently, my students are in a variety of locations in our room using a pillow for seating during their times of regulation. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them to continue to implement their zones in a safe and comfortable self-soothing area.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective choices when implementing their zones of regulation.
This is a modular couch designed primarily for the needs of students. The comfy floor seat will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options that allow students to feel at ease when decompressing their emotions. They are lightweight and can be easily used in any area of the classroom.
