What can you do for peace? How can you keep the Earth beautiful? The ESOL students can't wait to learn about it!
I am planning a project for the ESOL students in grades K-1 in which they will learn about being friends to other people and being friends to our planet.
I found the wonderful books by Todd Parr to be very appealing to young language learners. The colors are bright and sharp and the messages are extremely powerful. These books would be a perfect match for a multicultural group of students.
My Project
I believe the students have to interact with quality literature in the classroom and also have the opportunity to share it at home with relatives. That is why I would like to provide each student with their own copy of the book to enjoy. And, when these students go to their native countries, the messages of peace will be spread across the continents!
I try to inspire my students and provide them with multiple opportunities to experience the themes we are discussing.
The Peace Book and the Earth Book by Todd Parr would be the perfect supplement to our theme of friendship and environment. The students would become aware of how their actions can impact the feelings of others and make a difference for the world we live in.
