My Project

This grant proposal seeks funding to purchase essential physical education (PE) supplies for Portola Springs Elementary School. Our goal is to enhance the PE program by providing students with diverse opportunities to develop fundamental movement skills, improve fitness, and foster a lifelong love of physical activity. Research demonstrates the positive impact of quality PE on academic performance, health, and overall well-being. By investing in our PE program, we are investing in the holistic development of our students.

Research highlights the importance of movement in learning- but to be effective, we need proper supplies and structures to support all learners with games and activities.

We are fortunate to have 2 PE Paras that lead activities outside and are looking for fun and engaging ways to involve all students. Our structured PE classes also provide opportunities for students to develop social-emotional skills such as teamwork, cooperation and communication, and sportsmanship. This aligns with Irvine's Social Emotional Learning emphasis.

With the requested funds, we will purchase a variety of equipment to support a comprehensive PE program. This includes: balls of various sizes and types, cones, designated visual spots for clear expectations, and scarves. These supplies will enable us to implement a wide range of activities designed to promote fundamental movement skills, cardiovascular fitness, and coordination. Activities will be structured to incorporate elements of play, challenge, and cooperation, ensuring that PE is engaging and enjoyable for all students.
