This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Middle school students are highly active and very inquisitive. We would like the students to learn about lifetime fitness. Our school has no gym or indoor recreation areas and it gets extremely hot. We would like to create a fitness circuit to provide for students of all abilities. This circuit would use existing field space and part of a classroom. A fitness circuit with exercise stations including workout stations and equipment machines such as stationary bikes and fitness machines would enable to help students to learn about lifetime fitness activities.
My Project
I was able to get a grant for mountain bikes and helmets for my PE classes, these bikes will need some maintenance I would like to have supplies to keep the bikes in good condition.
I would also like yoga equipment to be used in the PE class as flexibility and strength is critical for all around fitness.
Supplementing bike riding with cool down and warm up will help the students learn about their bodies but also minimize the risk of injury. It can also be used for rainy days when we cannot ride the bikes.
