My Students

My students are eager to learn more about their history and see the struggles that their predecessors have overcome. They love exposure to things that don't come often to them.

My students are predominantly low-income minority students who are constantly challenging themselves intellectually.

Opportunities to go to the movie theater don't come often, this would be the perfect opportunity to combine an amazing lesson and a fun trip.

My Project

Our students will return to school to complete a reflection activity to celebrate Black History Month. Our school is predominantly African-American and they are all very proud of where they come from. We are certain that they will take what they learned from this movie and bring it back to their real world. It will set a great example of the power of resilience and how important it is to never give up when you're fighting for what you believe in.

At our school, we talk a lot about social justice and fighting for what's right.

We try to create socially conscious leaders who will stand for what they believe in. Watching part of Martin Luther King's fight will hopefully inspire our students to continue to stand for what they believe in.
