As a veteran teacher, I have learned through experience how simple items and trinkets can sometimes provide the most lasting impact. Working with Diverse Learners for the vast majority of my academic career has helped me identify materials that can provide the most comfort within the classroom, and your funding helped me in supporting those needs. Between the stickers, the various fidgets, and general supplies, my students immediately made use of the materials to help them remain engaged while trying to manage the stress and anxiety that often comes with classroom instruction. \r\n\r\nThe materials you helped provide were immediately put to good use, as students grabbed their favorite items to suit their personal preferences. The stickers were quickly sorted and picked through to decorate personal folders and other materials. The item most appreciated, however, was the bracelets. Several students were quick to identify one, two, or more that they wanted to place around their wrists, signifying a personal statement and/or feeling they had for themselves.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your contribution, and I hope you consider supporting additional programs going forward.","fullyFundedDate":1757356181935,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-and-classroom-supplies-for-diver/9546043/","projectTitle":"Sensory and Classroom Supplies for Diverse Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. McNamara","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9212226"},{"teacherId":9301953,"projectId":9623388,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my classroom project. Your generosity allows us to make science accessible to all of our students. These materials are allowing us to work in small group settings and give individualized attention to students.\r\n\r\nThe dry-erase markers and erasers are especially appreciated. My students all have individual white boards that they use daily. They use them to brainstorm ideas, answer questions in class, and show their thinking. This allows us to provide feedback in real time and gives students a chance to erase and try again if they need to. The students really enjoy having these materials and, of course, we go through many markers and erasers. Your donations allow us to continue to help students engage with the material in a way that works for them.","fullyFundedDate":1757356181802,"projectUrl":"project/small-group-science-materials/9623388/","projectTitle":"Small Group Science Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hettrick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9301953_orig.jpg?crop=323,323,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695578089819","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9301953"},{"teacherId":9301953,"projectId":9427552,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generosity. Your support for my 10th grade chemistry classes will give them opportunities to engage with science texts in new ways.\r\n\r\nUnfortunately, the textbooks listed in the project were out of stock. However, your donations still went towards bringing texts into my chemistry classes! One text purchased helps students work through guided inquiry. This will be a valuable tool as we dig deeper into atomic structure and chemical reactions. Instead of learning through lecture, students will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the content by building on their prior knowledge and using critical thinking skills.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, I was able to purchase sets of classroom manipulatives. These also came with their own texts to guide student inquiry. We now have classroom sets of atomic models and manipulatives to model balancing chemical reactions. Students will have the opportunity to physically interact with what they are learning and reading. Being able to physically manipulate models will help students gain a greater understanding of atomic structure than they could get from text and diagrams alone. Following instructions and building atoms will aid in comprehension and retention. It will also be more fun for students, which is always a bonus!\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generosity. Your donations are helping make science accessible and enjoyable for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1755573282124,"projectUrl":"project/chemistry-textbooks/9427552/","projectTitle":"Chemistry Textbooks","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hettrick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9301953_orig.jpg?crop=323,323,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695578089819","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9301953"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5390","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":329,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":96,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":57.3,"schoolId":5390,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Perspectives Charter School - Joslin on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Perspectives Charter School - Joslin","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/perspectives-charter-schools/perspectives-charter-school-rodney-d-joslin-campus/5390"}
