My Students
This year, I am teaching a BRAND NEW classroom for our school. It will be a Digital Learning Lab, which will be computer skills based as well as Project Based Learning. I am so excited about this new opportunity!
I want all of the students that enter my room to have terrific experiences because they are amazing and exceptional students!
Students that will be in my classroom will be immersed in Project-Based Learning one day a week and will leave excited about the next week's project!
My school is a fantastic blend of various racial and ethnic backgrounds with the majority of my students falling below the poverty line and classified as at-risk. We have a large percentage of students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and yet our school doesn't not receive additional supplemental funding for extra resources.
My Project
Last year, I attended my first PBL World (Project Based Learning) workshop in Napa Valley, California. What I learned over that three-day course has taken my teaching to new heights this year. I have never seen more excited students participate in project-based learning.
Project-Based Learning engages students in learning that is deep and long-lasting and inspires them a love of learning and personal connection to their academic experience.
From raising money to buy a flock of chickens for a family in poverty to students learning about the history of our school to students wanting to give back to the homeless in our community after finding out how many homeless we have. All of the students are learning that they can be leaders no matter how young they are. They are passionate about their projects and their pride shows through them.
I am excited to return for a second year and learn even more from the second-level course. I thank you in advance for your support of this project!
