My Project
The balloons, a construction set, popcorn and other critical supplies will support students with a variety of experiences at school. The water balloons and popcorn will be used by ALL grade levels as a whole class reward when they collaborate and meet goals they set as a class. These resources are a part of our school wide PBIS program and used to recognize students for making proactive choices at school, such as following directions the first time given, showing safety and responsibility at recess or showing effort and improvement in their academic progress.
These incentives have been discussed and approved by the a student council and student leaders at our school.
Our Jr. Coaches are students who wear bright vests and ensure safety and respectful play at recess. These students have advocated for an additional ball pump so they can have proper equipment to play with during recess. The construction set and coloring posters are tools for calm down strategies and also opportunities for students to learn and build social skills. They are used for all grades in our class and students can choose to utilize them as recognition for their leadership or can also use them as tools to help students regulate their bodies and emotions.
The building set allow students to strengthen their critical thinking and engineering practices all while having fun. The other resources will also be used to support student activities and engage learning in and out of the classroom. These activities will foster collaboration, creative problem solving and emotional wellness. The spinning wheel will be used to help students extend learning. It will be used across multiple disciplines. Our students are unique because we come from a wide variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and as Title I school we are always in need of resources that will enrich the educational experience of our scholars.
