My Project

Help my students stay pawsitively engaged and motivated this year! I’m building a reward system that combines academic achievement and social-emotional learning through the magic of desk pets—miniature animal companions that live on each student’s desk and grow with their progress. With your help, we can bring in adorable pets, creative habitats, accessories, and books that turn learning and good behavior into something students can’t wait to be rewarded for! Many of my students need a little extra encouragement to meet academic and behavior goals.

The Desk Pet system is a positive behavior support strategy that brings excitement and ownership to learning.

Students will earn points through participation, kindness, hard work, and perseverance, and those points can be spent to adopt pets, upgrade their habitats, or treat their desk pet to a party!

Not only does this create a joyful classroom environment, but it also teaches students real-life skills: saving, responsibility, empathy, and goal setting. Plus, it builds classroom community and gives every child a reason to feel seen, successful, and celebrated.
