My students need more access to technology! There are so many programs and websites available to help students focus on core skills that we need more access to with these 2 Chromebooks.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
W.B. Yeats once said, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." My class is full of explorers. They're always looking for ways of lighting that fire in their learning. Let's help them light that fire!
My students are third graders who come from diverse backgrounds within this urban area.
They're epic bucket fillers, always looking for ways to share their learning and help one another. Literacy Centers, Social Science, Math and Science are subjects we take part in and learn about daily. My students love being active and independent when in their centers, reinforcing their skills in reading, writing, and vocabulary! During Science and Social Science, the students love to research topics beyond the text and understand it further. With limited resources, students tend to learn in the same ways and I want to extend that! I'd like to reach more types of learners!
My school uses perseverance and encouragement as a gear for driving their learning. This is predominantly a low socio-economic school but we've been collaboratively pushing to not let this hinder the possibilities we can give our children in their learning at school.
My Project
My students love to read online, using programs like Raz-Kids and BrainPOP but there isn't always a computer available. These Chromebooks will have a designated area for reading and listening to reading. They can also be used as a math center for our math programs and for research during Social Science and Science. Overall, these resources will get the students excited about making literacy centers their own and taking ownership of their learning during that time! It will also give us more access to a variety of resources that could make the class learning more interesting and versatile!
By donating to my classroom's project, you are turning a very important time in our learning to something just a bit more magical.
This is such an important year for my students, cognitively speaking. They are yearning to take in as much as they can. Your donation will also be used for years to come, through not just one but many classes who come through 3rd grade. It will allow them to explore vocabulary, stories, and the Internet in ways they couldn't before and in ways!
