My students need pathology slides to see what normal cells and organs look like and compare to the diseased versions of the organ, allowing discussion for how the organ works.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from a low socioeconomic area in a historic part of Texas. They are very interested in joining the workforce by becoming doctors, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, coaches, and athletes.
Many of these students will be required to pass Anatomy and Physiology in college and we were able to get the class on campus for the first time this year, but we need your help getting class supplies!
This is a very fast-paced class in college and many students fail out because of it. We want our students to be college prepared and so they can be successful in their careers. We are so excited that we are able to expose our students to this field and the opportunities to have experiences that will benefit their success later in their educational journeys.
Please help us give these students the best experience in high school so we can to inspire greatness in our communities later! You can help by providing the hands-on experiences they need! Many students are visual and hands-on learners and this is the best way they can truly understand how bodies work! Thank you so much for your time!
My Project
My students will use human pathology slides to see what cells, tissues, and organs actually look like. They will then compare the normal version of the cell to the diseased cells. Structure of the cell determines what it does in the body, which leads to discussion of what a cell does on its own, and what it can do when it works with other cells.
Interaction between structures is key to understanding how the human body works!
These slides will make it easier for my students to understand complex topics relating to organ function, immunity, diseases, and cancer. Thank you for taking the time to consider our project!
