This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is my sixth year teaching sixth grade. My students are eager to learn new concepts and to do projects. This is their last year in elementary school before they move on to middle school. They deserve the best that can be offered to them in their learning environment.
After 16 years of working with students in Salinas, California, I want to be able to incorporate more technology into my lessons that will engage my students in learning.
We are a Title I, low income (classified 100% free lunch school) school in Salinas, California. Each year, I want to be able to offer more than the year before because our students deserve the best.
My Project
This will be my second Pathfinders Institute that I will attend. I want my students to learn how to use circuits and coding to make projects. Many of the students have learned to code online using different platforms from Scratch to Code.org. Now they will be taking the skills that they have learned and applying it to Chibitronics paper circuits.
I want to harness the imagination and creativity of my students working with different mediums and to bring their ideas to life.
Students need more hands on activities that can be incorporated into class projects that the students can continue to grow in their coding capabilities.
