This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Path for Proficiency for Language Learners is designed for educators who have been trained in Thinking Maps and are committed to leading their schools or learning communities in acquiring additional information about how the Maps can be extended and adapted to meet all English language proficiency levels. I was lucky to participate in a different training from the same company, and with this new VIRTUAL PD, I will be able to:

Model how Thinking Maps can be used to assist with research-based English Learner's strategies

Scaffold and extend Thinking Maps to meet the specific needs of English Learners at all levels of language proficiency

Explicitly teach language through many content areas so students can achieve Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency (CALP)

Differentiate instruction using Thinking Maps to meet the needs of individual students

Teach students to recognize and replicate text structures in written discourse

Develop differentiated lesson plans for all language proficiency levels of English Learners
