I teach Anatomy and Physiology course for juniors and seniors bound for college. As they learn about different body systems I try to incorporate as many activities as I can that cause them to apply the content they learn into their own lives.
My students are eager for real world experiences and equipment to use.
They want to explore the world around them using any available tools to them. Most students come from a low economic background and the students who are in my class chose to spend an additional year learning science. My students chose to take my class to learn more about the human body and to prepare themselves for college.
My Project
These materials will be incorporated into a year long project focusing on how the human body responds to different conditions. With the labquest we would be able to plot the heart rate of students as they watch a scary movie and time how the nervous system responds. We would be able to measure how temperature and heart rate changes as they exercise. We would be able to provide them with accurate data about their own bodies and explain how their bodies responded the way they did.

Not only will they learn about the human body, they'll learn about their body. I don't have the equipment they need to provide them with engaging activities.
