Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I am in my second year of teaching and my first year of teaching piano to my piano club! We have recently received some pianos through Donors Choose and the students have been so excited about them! The piano club at my school has 11 students and we have 7 pianos total. Ensuring that each student has their own instrument is imperative to their piano journey!

Having a set of keyboards for my Piano Club would truly boost my students overall confidence, help keep them focused and disciplined while learning a new instrument.

So far, my students have been learning how to play the C Pentatonic scale in their left hand and seeing their faces when they play it correctly brings me so much joy!

Having these instruments would help them continue to build on their previous skills of reading notes and playing rhythms, working with hand/eye coordination, musicianship, teamwork, cooperation, taking leadership roles and building amazing relationships with each other. These keyboards will be used for future performances, talent shows, recitals and many other performing opportunities that allow for creative outlets!
