My Project

I am in my first year of teaching a piano club at a creative arts school in South Carolina. I have some of the most talented 4th and 5th grade students that are constantly asking me when can they play the piano that is in my classroom. And I usually give them the opportunity to do so, but I can tell they would truly thrive if they had their own opportunity to play their own! I have noticed that when my students play my piano, they are so focused and creative with the cool songs and rhythms they create! It truly is so inspiring to see little 9-11 year olds have a creative outlet when they are not normally afforded one.

Having a set of keyboards for my Piano Club would truly boost my students confidence, help keep them focused and disciplined while learning a brand new instrument.

Having these instruments would help them with continue to build on their previous skills of reading notes and playing rhythms, since most of my students have expressed their love of playing instruments and being in band programs once they move on to middle school.

My students will gain so many skills from learning this new instrument such as, musicianship, teamwork, cooperation, taking leadership roles and building amazing relationships with each other. These keyboards will be used for future performances, talent shows, recitals and many other performing opportunities!
