Could you imagine being in third grade and not having any construction paper? October can come and there is no orange paper to make a pumpkin. Beautiful autumn leaves are on the trees but not being reproduced in our art center. We are hoping that by the time winter comes we will be able to make paper snowmen with bright red scarfs, and pink and purple valentines for our moms.
Our school budget didn't pass and the hardest ones hit by that are the children sitting in a classroom. We were told that no student supplies will be purchased this year. If students will use it, we cannot order it.
This is my second year with this class. I taught them in 2nd grade last year and moved up to 3rd grade with them this year. My students overcome many challenges at home and school for many is their place to just be a kid. I can truly say I enjoying spending each and every day with them. We laugh, learn and everyday our relationships get better. They work wonderfully together and have been so helpful to the 3 new students we have that speak no English.
We are currently working on a social studies project where we are building different communities with milk cartons and paper. We have to color the white paper we have for buildings, trees and grass. I am hoping that by the next project we will be able to use our new construction paper instead.
Please help us to explore the world of colored paper.
