This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds originating from all of New York City's five boroughs. Most of the students come from low-income homes and so asking parents to contribute to expensive programs is difficult.
The school offers students the chance to develop skills for careers in health professions and so will enable them to prosper economically.
The majority of the curriculum is Science-focused and students only take one Arts-themed class. I aim to provide them with the best possible experience to enrich their understanding of music.
My Project
As part of the music program, students are given access to a recording program that allows them to create their own backing tracks. Unfortunately, we are lacking microphones to allow students to put their own voices on the recordings.
This project seeks to fund the purchase of a stereo pair of microphones to be used to record student voices and instrumental performances for Music, English, Social Students, and Science Projects, allowing students to record, share and reflect on their musical compositions and informational presentations.
We are also looking to purchase the necessary add-ons for the microphones (wind guards, stands, and cables).
