My Project

I take great pride in having "the coolest classroom in the school". I have alternative seating, beautiful tapestries, colorful lighting, and diffuse essential oils. All of this helps keep a calm vibe which is conducive to the mental health and well-being of my students. But there are a few more things that would just push this room over the top.

My seniors are under a lot of stress as we work on college and financial aid applications.

One easy way to help alleviate that stress is to give them alternative seating but I've also discovered the need for "alternative standing". Having a standing desk adapter for one of my tables so that students can work standing up would be a great addition to their choices. I have a tiny set of wind chimes that our fan helps move but a deeper, more beautiful sounding set would be a welcomed addition for the peacefulness. Finally, I am always receiving requests for books and these additions are from the juniors who will be working through the application process with me in the fall.

Having a Zen-like atmosphere not only helps put students at ease, it helps them to find a mindful center and discover inner strength that they didn't know they possess.
