My Students

My students are eager, creative, and love to be challenged! They challenge themselves to learn and grow every day. I serve over 400 students each week in the library, and they are most engaged in learning when they have hands-on challenges that relate to real-world concepts. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. My students come from diverse backgrounds, and we are a Title I school, but the one thing they have in common is their excitement to learn new concepts and strategies that will help them be successful in all walks of life!

My Project

My students need access to books that represent themselves. I am the Digital Literacy Coach (Librarian) at a Title I school, and the library is currently outdated. After weeding hundreds of old books, I want to build a new collection of books where all of my students, no matter their background, can see themselves in the stories they read. I want them to be able to connect to the lessons they learn through literature.

These books will captivate, inspire, and continue to develop my students' love of reading, a gift that will last a lifetime.

It can be quite challenging to maintain a robust library collection without much of a school library budget. As a result, I am turning to grants to keep our library collection up-to-date to meet the many reading interests of my students. With your support of this project, my students will have access to the engaging books they wish to read.
