This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are preschoolers who come from various backgrounds. They attend an inner city school and 100% of them receive free and reduced-price lunch and live below the poverty line.
My students come from many different backgrounds.
I have many students who speak mostly Spanish or are bilingual. The school that we are in is a dual immersion school and all students will be immersed in speaking Spanish in Kindergarten.
My students are critical thinkers who like to imagine and problem solve and figure out how things work.
My Project
Parents are always a child's first teacher. Every year I have parents who want to help their child be successful in school, but they do not always have the materials. Many parents are also unsure of how to best help their students, and need many ideas.
These backpacks will equip parents with the materials and resources they need to help their children be successful in school.
Each year we conduct home visits with our preschool families. These backpacks would be an exciting and fun resource to give to families at these home visits. They would help the parents to know what activities they could do to help their students.
