Help me give my students a variety of math manipulatives to help them develop sound mathematical thinking skills such as number sense, counting, color recognition, patterns, and spacial reasoning; as well as the foundation for number operations.

The students in our school love coming to school and are eager to learn new things. Many, however struggle with learning the basic math and reading skills that will ensure their future academic success.
Children learn best when their parents participate in their learning experiences.
The majority of our students live in low-income households, many with a single-parent or grandparents, who struggle to provide the resources they need to help their children academically. These parents want to be involved but need additional support.
I strongly believe that a parent is a child's first and most important teacher. However, when that parent is already struggling just to provide the basic necessities, having the time and money to provide learning opportunities at home is difficult.
By providing math manipulatives and other resources, as well as training and support to help parents help their children at home, I believe our students will make significant math gains in the classroom.
The materials from this project will be shared with parents of struggling students in preK - 2nd grades, along with other resources such as number cards, counting mats, simple math games, and parent workshops to show them how to work with their child at home.
