My Students

My class is a team of students, parents and teachers who are working together to teach a group of preschoolers with special needs and typical peers virtually! The children in my class have disabilities ranging from speech to autism to physical disabilities. The class is a blend of children with special needs and typical peers who support each other bringing there own abilities to the team. These students live in the inner city with some issues of poverty, housing issues. Many of their parents are now struggling with, job loss, stress, while trying to teach multiple children in the same room and work! They are superheroes!

My Project

Our class is currently engaging in virtual learning. This is a very challenging feat for preschoolers. Preschoolers learn by doing by being engaged in their learning and making it fun. Our parents have students of various ages that our in the home at the same time on devices that they our trying to help teach.

We need hands on engaging materials to help support our scholars at home and help support the parents who have become our partners in this challenge.

Monthly, we distribute materials to our students to encourage language, literacy skills, fine and large motor. We need containers to store these supplies, containers for sensory bins, art supplies for fine motor development, figurines to engage children socially and encourage speech and vocabulary.
